A quick question about video cards!

Hey Major Geeks!

I have been out of the loop for quite awhile with computer hardware, hahaha I'm an old dinosaur! Anyway my integrated video card on my motherboard is on the blink (loose connection somewhere is tinting things green!) and I'd like to just upgrade it anyway.

So can anybody recommend a card that won't break the bank and still give me decent quality when playing some of the latest games?

My motherboard is a: ECS GeForce7050M-M

It has one PCI Express x16 slot which I'm guessing is for the video card. Many places I see cards saying PCI Express 2.0 x16 will those work?

And my current (integrated) card is a: NVIDIA GeForce 7050 PV / NVIDIA nForce 630a (512MB)

Somebody please point this old dinosaur in the right direction!

What's your budget?
Your motherboard is pretty decent so any PCIe card will go in

Yes, PCI-E 2.0 x16 cards will work fine in PCI-E x16 slots. You just don't get optimal use of the card, but nothing major... and yes, that is the slot for your video card.

newegg.com or tigerdirect.com are both great places to browse around for parts. You could pick up a GeForce 9 series in the $50-$100US range, and the GTS and GTX series cards are better and more expensive, progressively.
