Major Geeks was the first forum I went on, it was a direct result of searching for help with my computer, found everything I wanted for keeping my ancient machine (5 years old) running. Put a few things on MG’s forum, then joined, I’ve enjoyed everyone here (even J.O.T.S) some of the threads have been brilliant. I think it’s a shame some people need to use forums as a crutch! If Amiee needs someone to talk to she’s welcome to contact me via PM,

I'll have to agree with you on that Tony.. This is the best forum I have found yet, and everyone gets along for the most part... There are a lot of very good threads too.. JOTS is a good egg too;) Hope you are having a great Monday ;)

Not only is this a great place for help, it is also the best type of support groups around.
Translation: Friends you can talk to.

And have a laugh with. I've had as much fun as I've had help in these forums. It's a blast!

Too true, H. The welcome Centre was a great place to play for a while. Shame we were ejected for getting a little bit........over excited. :-D
I can see the reasoning behind that decision, though. ;)

She should be aware that she can feel free to talk to any of us.

Personally, if I read that about myself I'd feel attacked. If you want Aimee to talk to you, take the first step and send her a PM on your own, you know? Sometimes a crutch is all people have keeping them on their feet.

I don't mean to start anything, just wanted to let that out. I've sent lots of PM's in the last few weeks to people I've never sent them to before, and it was something I thought for days about before I actually did it. It's not easy for everyone just to strike up a conversation, no matter the platform it's initiated on. :cool Peace.

Mostly scary, a little lonely.. Very fulfilling. We'll see how it goes, but no complaints so far. My laundry is done, my house is almost completely clean, and my bank account has more than 2 digits before the decimal after the bills are paid for the week.

I seriously wonder now, why humans always want to share what they have, and worry about someone else. (I will again someday)

    Thanks for asking.

Sharing can be a wonderful thing but why does it always seem that those who have the least will always share with another and yet the ones who have most want to keep it all to themselves.
This does not apply here at MGs, those who know share and those who don't learn.

Pax, not to 'rain on your parade' or disrespect you in any way, but that statement is pure bunk! Let me refresh your memory..."Hats for Kids w\Cancer." You have a big heart Pax and that's exibited by your effort to help the weakest segment of our society...children! If that's not sharing and caring, then I don't know what is;) Well, my friend, it looks like your 'someday' came sooner that you anticipated, huh? Granted, I don't know what made you feel that way to begin with, and it's none of my business. But, from what I see and the actions you're are taking to help those children, it looks like you're re-bounding nicely!! Don't sell yourself short!

I guess I put the hat thing in a different aspect of my life. I understand your angle, and thank you for your opinion, but why wouldn't you help those kids? Everyone in the world is capable of either sending a hat from their place of employment, or walking into somewhere and asking for one. To me, it's nothing more than the right thing to do. I'm not afraid to go out of my way for people. I meant it as a general observation. The outlook on my life alone, if from nothing more than a financial standpoint has went up substantially, just from being alone. Money's not everything I understand, but knowing I can control my own, is a pretty good feeling.

My someday will come sooner than later in all aspects, but when it does, this time I won't forget about myself. I didn't mean to come in here and go all emotional on people. It was more of an "I'm doing better than I expected" statement.

    Thanks though Stubby.

We all suffer heartbreak in life....it never goes away, but it does get easier over time. Friends ( both here and in your real life) as well as a strong sense that life leads you down a path for a purpose goes a long way in helping.

Sometimes the best medicine in the world is to put our issues aside and help others.

That just totally reminded me of Gone in 60 Seconds at the end when The Sphinx says:

If it was directed at me, thank you. I stand alone at the moment, but I stand where I put myself, I can't complain about my situation, I am its ultimate creator. I'm happy, I'll get by. ;)

I don’t get this “here and in your real life” HERE is both real and life, perhaps its just words on a screen, but they are words, unspoken words, yes, but real, and with real meaning. Ok I’ve never met Pax, but, I admire the stand he took and admire his philosophy, and would happily call him friend.

I think this is what we were trying to achieve with Aimee but it went all wrong. I for one knew better then to make any kind of medical or personal suggestions to a stranger never mind a troubled teenager, but having children and grand children of your own it's kind of hard not to. No harm was meant but it did happen and I'm sorry aimee on my part. Like Tony PM anytime.

Young Aimee has a sickness that was reconciled by the drugs she was taking, and she freely gave the names out, that made our views an sympathies take a whole new direction.
We are PC junkies not doctors except for Gunusknives who is both and really should not be doling out medical advice to a 13 year old girl.
I asked on of the other mods to close the thread but it was decided to wait a short while to allow her a reply.

It was mentioned about needing a crutch, yes we all need them at times.
My physical body is in a pretty bad way, it held together with bots, screws and plates after a bad accident and my crutch is the PC and MGs to occupy my mind and try to blot out the pain, when the pain is too seveer i call my doctor and not a freind 8000 miles away to ask advice about my pain.
It was not the First time Aimee had stepped into dangerous waters and MA who after all is the owner stepped in and called a halt.

Incidentally it's almost 01.00 here and the pain won't let me sleep so i came on here to read the mail.

I come to this site to find my friends, the friends I have here I don't have offline. I've never made it a priority to have people in my life, aside from a select (rotating) few. I appreciate the praise, and the criticism I receive from everyone here. I'm one who does take a stand on things, sometimes to a fault.

At 30 years old, I don't think I'd be stretching too far to compare an online forum to a diary that answers back. No one in here has deeply seeded emotional roots to anyone else (unless they've chosen to, I know there are some couples that post) so it's not too hard to throw something out there, and see what comes back at you.

I know I've started some threads and thought, man this is going to be awesome, everyone's going to post here and like what I found / said / whatever. Usually, those threads drop off page 1 faster than they were typed, but hey, I enjoyed them.

I don't always talk about all my problems, here or to the friends / family I have direct access to, I like to handle things on my own. It's a good spot I have myself in. I'm not afraid to tell anyone anything, but I know enough to say "If I were about to hear what I'm about to say, how would I react?" It sort of helps me prepare for anything.

There's a wider age group here than I initially thought, which must mean it's harder than I anticipated for the moderation team to keep this site suitable for all members.

This week should have been a lot more difficult for me, but with my strength and the people I've confided my troubles in, it's been surprisingly calm, but also a bit more lackadaisical than I was hoping for. LOL

Anyhow, Tony, you're a good friend to have, as are the rest of you.

I think you are all a wonderful group of online friends to have. It's what makes this site so great to be on. I'm sure most of us has experienced to typical message board site where people (a lot of times 'mature' adults) use it as a platform to behave like a 3 year old and say things to others they'd never in the world be able to say IRL. Here, people are treated with the same respect they would be afforded in person.

This wonderful aspect of this board has allowed many people to post hardships in their lives and have the comfort that people are reading and commiserating with them. Or in some cases, even praying for them or their loved one.

Many great friendships have been established through this board and many of them have been carried over into IM-ing, going to pubs for a meet, or I'm pretty sure even marriage.

Sometimes, the support has nothing to do with serious life changing occurrences/problems, but just something as simple as people telling you to keep up a passion you have (like photography for me) because you may have just an iota of talent.;)

So, with that, I appreciate every single one of you.

Very nice sentiment Laura. And one that is very true.
Most of us indeed have soft shoulders to cry on. And some of us are soft hearted as well.Makes for the perfect mix.
Some are pretty hard headed in outward appearances, but are really softies.
