A very weird laptop problem

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1800 laptop and have been using it for almost 3 years. It's running win2000 pro now + all bunch of softwares.

Since the end of last year, every morning when I start it, it, it was frozen in differnet processing (sometimes in win2000 login window, or after login, or openning the IE, or even before login window show up....)When this problem happened, there's a symbol: the floopy disk light will light on (never turned off) I have to reboot it 5-8 times continually, then it was gonna be OK and won't happened during the operation. The weird thing is if in the operation, I reboot my computer, this problem won't happen. It only happened everytime when I start it 1st time in the day. So from last year, I haven't been shut down my laptop. Even when I have sleep, I just close the lid, make it standby.

So would you give me any suggestion, what happened to my laptop? thank you!

 

Have you added any new hardware to your laptop?

If so, it may be the power supply being too low on wattage.

 

Try these:

Defrag the hard drive
Download, install, update, and scan with avast! anti-virus
Download, install, update, and scan with Spybot
Download, install, update, and scan with Ad-Aware SE
Download, install, update, and scan with CrapCleaner
