Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggghghh!!!!

i hope someone can help me, as i am really frustrated at this point, as i'm sure that this stupid problem has a very simple solution that i cannot figure out for the life of me.
here we go: my computer has a wireless card installed (linksys wireless g notebook adapter 802.11g) i can connect to the wireless network that my roommate has set up here in our apartment. but, when i try to open up a web page of any kind, it says that: "the page cannot be displayed." or, if i look at the linksys wireless window, it says: "connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found."
if you have any insight whatsoever, please help, as i am just about to throw my crappy dell from the top of the empire state building.

It sounds liek it's a problem with the way the router is configured, as opposed to your wireless network. Or else a firewall problem (which could be on the router as well).

If you have access to configure the router, check and make sure it's assigning you a correct IP and that the firewall isn't blocking you. If you can't ask your roommate to.

 

It sounds like you want to use your room mates internet access.

The modem is connected to the router.

His machine is connected to the router. Your machine is connected to the router.

IF this is the situation, then, the router may be affecting your connection.

Unless you have setup a static IP. Static IP's are more secure (in some cases).
