aaaahh, i cant delete malware from quarantine!. Help

im running on vista and my realtime trend internet security virus scan detected a virus and sent it directly to quarantine as it should. problem is, the infected file is just sitting in the quarantine, it wont clean, restore or delete. when i try to delete the file a pop up window says " unable to delete the file. your computer may have locked the file or you lack sufficient privilages to access it ". the file name is ximnibr.exe and came from the C drive. i established from a search that it definately is malware.

the solution to this could be very simple, but im tearing my hair out trying to solve it and i quit!

any replies to this would be appreciated.

Welcome to Major Geeks!

Somewhere within your TrendMicro program there should be an option to empty the quarantine folder. That is the way you should remove the file. Check your documentation. I don't have TrendMicro so I cannot tell you exactly how to do this and for different versions of the program they may have changed it. Try right click on the icon in the System Tray to see what options there are.

All that being said, if you had that file, then you may still be infected and it would be a good idea to run thru the below since your AV may have missed more of the infection.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
