On Tuesday, February 21, ABC News is broadcasting a story on the Foxconn/Apple plant in China. According to ABC, it is the first time in history a United States media outlet has toured and shot video of the inside of the plant where most Apple products (and tons of other PC parts) are manufactured.

Although they'll be some footage on Good Morning America and the ABC Evening News, the main story (and most of the footage) will be on Nightline which airs in most cities right after the 11PM/10PM local news.

For those outside the United States (or anyone who misses it), the episode of Nightline should be available for on-line viewing the following day at www.abcnews.com.

More important than just seeing the inside of the factory, it'll be interesting to see how Foxconn explains away the worker suicides, injuries and deaths caused by unsafe working conditions that have recently been in the news.

Thanks gman863. If possible, will be watching. Have followed many articles about Foxconn and its treatment of their employees as well. Have read that soon employees are getting a raise to $280 per month. Must be because of all the bad publicity? I certainly don't expect any employees to talk forthright about the work conditions though due to reprisals.

@satrow. It's quiet in Foxconn due to workers not being allowed to talk. (read your link)

It's not just the factory conditions that need to be addressed, we currently know nothing of their dorm/social conditions either, thus my interest in the survey being done, see the questions being asked.

Am I overly cynical for thinking that if these workers were slaves they would probably be treated better? Slaves are property, a mass-suicide among them means a loss of property, in other words, loss of money. Workers, you just hire a new one and life goes on.

Never mind. I am overly cynical.

For those of you who can't access ABC's Tour of Foxconn on their website, (outside of the USA) it's on youtube.
