I did a search on MajorGeeks and all of google for that matter and there is no fix for this that I found. My friend had a virus attacking their computer and the .exe in question was abdou.exe . Anyways after deleting it we discovered that something was recreating the .exe and figured it was coming from the registry.

So we went deleted it from the registry, it didn't work. It just re creates itself in the registry. Avast anti virus was constantly blocking it and had blocked it and deleted it over 4000 times. Abdou.exe I mean. Anyways. I finally realized it was attaching itself to explorer.exe. After closing explorer.exe and removing the registry entry it was fixed.

So what it did was created a lot of various problems on xp AND vista. Including crashing Mbam and spybot search and destroy when doing a scan

So I figured I would post this here because I don't know if other people have the same problem and figured you guys could do more with this then I can.

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

Are you asking for help or just venting? Either way just removing a registry entry and a file is usually not enough to cure most malware. It's just not that easy or this forum would not be as busy as it is.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

If any of the scans will not run or download move on to the next one and let me know what happened like if there were any errors or if they just wouldn't download or run.

Oh yeah no I was just saying that's how it got fixed. It was crashing malewarebytes and spy bot search and destroy mid scan but the scan went fine and removed virus after we removed it from registry after closing explore.exe.

Okay if you are confident you got it removed then I won't twist your arm for the logs.

I do suggest having a look at the below information.

    1. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    2. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:
