I recently picked up the Abebot Trojan on my HP laptop, which is running Windows Vista. I'm sure that the symptoms have been posted up before. Are the removal procedures any different from XP? Any assistance in cleaning up my PC would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

Will do, thanks for the assistance. Shortly after I posted I found the sticky about the Vista cleaning procedure. I have downloaded the tools, printed out the instructions and will post up what has been found very soon! :)

    Scanning for almost a day!

I prepared to go into battle to remove the Abebot trojan from my laptop. I printed out and followed the procedures for the Vista OS. Started by installing and initiating the "complete scan" from the SUPERAntiSpyware app. This was around 9:30 yesterday evening. It ran throughout the night and it is now 1:27pm the following day (Sunday 4/6/08). So far it's found a "Rouge.MalWarrior" among the over 2 million file items that have been scanned. The question is, should such a scan be taking this long? Going on 18 hours now. :tas

Also, the "next" button looks enabled in the scan dialog box. Should I have clicked it long ago, or should I wait until the scan is completed? :confused

PS: internet cable is disconnected as per the instructions.

No this is not normal but neither is having 2 million files on a PC. Do you really have that many files/folders? Just abort SUPERAntispyware and continue on.
