about:blank perplexing problem

I have run through all the steps to clean this system (my bro-in-laws home computer here), still have the about:blank hijack issue.

Have followed instruction on "read & run me first" to the letter (well, I think to the letter...got confused after jumping from one thread to another to follow steps, disabled system restore but haven't enabled it yet....was there an instruction for that somewhere? when was I meant to re-enable ?). Ran progs in safe mode, re-booted and ran AboutBuster in normal mode with ADSL disconnected...but then rebooted BEFORE I saw the note which said DON"T REBOOT!!!!

Okay, attached are logs of system info (hope this is the right info!) & also hijack this log.

I have been working on this for 5 freakin hours, & just know one of you guys will be able to solve the issue in record time *fingers and legs crossed here*

Still have this problem this morning.

THIS is what I have done this morning, with attached HJT log:

1. Disabled system restore
2. Enabled viewing of hidden files, sys files & extensions
3. Booted in to safe mode
4. Ran CCleaner
5. Ran Ad-Aware (no problems found)
6. Ran Spybot S&D (no problems found)
7. Ran MS Antispyware (no problems found)
8. Checked for bad services (none listed as per PART3. Stopping & Disabling bad Services)
9. Ran CWShredder (no problems found)
10. Ran About Buster (8 problems removed I THINK it said)
11. re-boot into normal mode, re-ran About Buster
12. Ran HJT, log file attached.

Does anyone have any ideas?
