about blank, Trojan.Downloader.Zlob, adware, spyware, etc.

    I am having some PC problems as you can see by the title. I have completed the instructions completely as posted in the "READ & RUN ME FIRST..." doc and am still not cleaned up. I can see some things in the various logs, but am not sure what the best options are to truly get rid of them. Please assist.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

    You need to run the below procedure and then attach the smitfiles.txt log:

    SpywareQuake & SpyFalcon Removal Procedure


    Then also attach a new HJT log and let me know if there is any change to your problems.

    Done as suggested in SpywareQuake & SpyFalcon Removal Procedure. Attached are new logs. About blank problem seems to be solved-routes to msn.com now. :) Thanks! Please let me know if additional work is needed according to attached logs.

    You're welcome.

    Just have HijackThis fix the below line and you are finished with the cleanup:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)


    Now if you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    After that, you should work thru the below link:

    All done. Thanks for all of your help! Good as new now and protected better than before - that is for sure.

    I am a first time user/researcher of Major Geeks and am very impressed with the level of detail/knowledge. No doubt I will need to return...and will continue to be a fan and point others in the "right" direction.

    I'm back...

    When I am cruising to different pages with IE explorer, I see in the status bar about.blank flashes by sometimes. My IE doesnt reset to this page. Does that mean that I am still infected, or does that mean that something on the page I am visiting is infected?

    No! Unless you are actually being hijacked to some unexpected page or you actually cannot load any pages, you should be okay.
