about:blank website redirect

While surfing the internet, I witnessed a program download itself into my computer and a brief dialog box that popped up before closing my internet page. My internet pages now resort to an about:blank page. I found the link on majorgeeks regarding this, and I downloaded the recommended programs for deleting spyware, as well as the virus searches. I used HiJack this to delete any suspicious files as well as scrolling through your HiJack this descriptions to find anything I may have missed. I also compared the processes running on my computer to the ones on one of the links, and deleted those not essential to running my computer. The only thing I know left to do is examine the 'services' that are running on my computer. I am posting this to see if anyone recognizes any of these as files that need to be deleted or suggestions on how to restore my home page settings. When I change my homepage in internet settings, apply, and close the box. I can open the box again, and its back to about:blank. And if not, the next time I open a webpage it resorts back to a blank page. Thank you for your help.
