Hi, I have a few questions about this mysterious, magical program known as ComboFix. It seems very prevalent on computer help forums, but every occurrence is accompanied by 1 or more forum users warning how dangerous it is to use on one's own, without being instructed by a "malware expert." This brings me to my questions:

Why do people claim that this program is so dangerous?

Why is documentation for this program non-existent?

Was this program developed by only the one person known as sUBs?

Is it possible to contact this person?

Isn't there some sort of development site/wiki/forum, or is ComboFix closed source?

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me answer these questions. I am a programmer who does some computer repair work for friends, family, etc., and I'm frustrated by the lack of information about this program. Thanks.

Because it can be used to delete protected operating system files, services, and registry keys. If used incorrectly by a person that does not know what they are doing, a PC can become unbootable.

So that malware creators cannot figure out how the program works. Documentation is only available in closed forums where malware fighters are trained/tutored.
