should be the same as the other phone jacks in your house.

If you are installing a jack in the new location, chances are the wire colors are the same as those hooked up in the jack you are moving from. In a house where plain old telephone wire is used, and there is only one phone line, the wiring standard calls for the red and green wires to be used-- only a pair is necessary for dialtone. For a second line, the black and yellow.

If the house has newer type wiring, the wires will likely be orange, blue, green and brown, with each pair being, for example, blue with a white stripe/white with a blue stripe, and so on.

NO, a wall jack is there allready but for phone line.

This is exactly what we have at home. I'll check a I'll let you know what are the formation of the pairs for both phone line and DSL line so you could help me with making the move.

There are no separate wires for the DSL. The DSL signal is superimposed on the phone line, and is basically being carried on AM radio frequencies over the wire. So you don't hear the hiss that this makes on the line, filters are supplied to block the DSL signal at jacks phones are connected to. Older DSL installations would filter the entire house and then run a dedicated unfiltered wire to the computer. Most telcos stopped doing this because it's cheaper to send out a half dozen at-the-jack filters than pay an installer to come out.

I wouldn't say older actually, i just had this done about 2 months ago, i like it better because there are no filters dangling arround and if you need to move your dsl modem all you have to do is have them come out and change wich wire is not filtered. + we had to pay for it not them. It was only like $20 but i needed a new NID anyway :D
