About rabates-pc Loaded

    Just turned on my laptop & received a message in the quick launch task bar "Windows Media Player found: rabates-pc" with an icon now showing in the quick launch bar.
    I haven't downloaded this
    Can anyone throw some light on whether this is some sort of media player update or is it something more sinister
    ps Running XP

    Sure sounds fishy to me.

    To clarify: when you say 'quick launch bar', I'm assuming you mean the area on the left portion of the Taskbar?

    Also, please check your startups: click Start > Run, type 'msconfig' (sans quotes), press Enter. In the Startup tab, are there any entries similar to the item in question?
