Anyone have an Access template database to replace a cardex?

That is with simple alphabetic index I can browse through, like a cardex?

What is cardex? I think an answer to that might be helpful to anyone who might be able to help you.

I have hundreds of cards made of yes cardboard. On these I log references and information I have collected over the years (that many?). I store them in a box with tabbed dividers in alphabetical order. So when I want say the circuit diagram for a USB plug I go to the U tab and pull out the USB card and voila.

I would like to transfer the data to a pc so that I can use the improved searching facilities offered by a database, but I still need the 'browse' ability provided by the cards.

With some dificulty I have designed a row of tabs, labelled with the alphabet, in Access. However the whole project involves quite a lot more programming and surely must have been done before.

Mostly I just fix computers, I don't actually use them so this may be a trivial task to some.
