Access denied

    I just bought a laptop running Win7. I want to share files with my desktop running WIN XP but am having a little trouble. I have wireless network. I can go on the laptop (running WIN 7) and I have full access to the desktop. I can view the laptop in network places. However I get access denied. Please please please, I have a grand total of 45 minutes working with WIN7 so step by step instructions if possible. Obviously I have missed a permission setting but I have no idea where to even start to look. Any help would be great.
