Access to my cable bandwidth via dail up

:-D First off i know dialup is Obsolete but i have somewhat of a situation.

Ok i have a 10Mb Cable internet connection. i have a shoutcast server (Windows XP) running on one machine and a LAMP Server (UBUNTU 8.04) setup on another machine.

Now i have an issue where my stepfather will unplug the router and modem (located in his room behind a locked door) when i come to visit because he is an insane east texas redneck, and will not allow me to get online while i am there...

there is a dedicated phone line in the guest bedroom and i would not mind using dial up for the short period of time that i am there... i would install Netzero and use the 10 hours free a month deal but he would have a heart attack if he found the software on the guest computer.

I would like to be able to setup a dial up connection on the guest computer, and use one of my computers at my home as a dedicated single line ISP so to speak... I have searched all over google to no avail. im not even sure if this can be done. but i am willing to try whatever it takes.

you can remote to your home computer via dial up. try logmein free edition. www.logmein.com

 

Thanks for the help. I will give it a shot. Do you happen to know how well this works, i know remote desktop over dialup is extremely slow, does this software use any type of compression to enhance performance?

 

After trying out this software this does not solve my dilemma, this software requires that i must have internet access from the remote system. The system i will be using at my parents house does not have internet access.

I want to manually crate a dial up account on my parents guest computer and dial into a box here at home and be able to browse the net at my parents house.

I will use this software to play on my computer from work so thanks again.

 

er... so your parents dont have internet at all? you wont be able to remote to anything if both computers dont have access to the internet

 

They do have internet but my stepfather is a nimrod, im a grown adult married with a kid in the oven, but yet he will unplug the router and modem that is locked in his room so i cannot get online in the guest bedroom. but there is a phone line with a dedicated line in the room.
