Accessing the registry

Hi sorry if its been posted before but i can not find it.
I need to delete 2 registry entries concerning MS java and i need to know how to actually get into the registry and find the 2 entries.
I have gone through the malware removal guide and everything is now sorted (with help from Chaslang). Now i am in the process of removing the old java so i can then download the newer sunjava.
Thanks in advance.
PS i'm running xp home sp3

Hi

Try this application to take away the need for accessing the registry http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4158 as deleting the wrong thing can render applications and the OS dead, so care is needed, so if doing this manually, do double check your about to delete the right key ( better still right click what your about to delete and choose Export as this will save a backup of what your deleting just in case, if all works well for a few days, delete backup )

To get to the registry, click Start > Run and type regedit

Thanks for the quick reply.
I was feeling brave and removed the entries manually but saved them as you advised.
One more thing is how to find and delete the \%Systemroot%\Java folder.

Hi ynot

Do make sure yoru folder and files are unhidden ( can do this from any folder Tools>Options>view show hidden files and folders and untick hide protected system files )

Then the java folder if still on your system is in C:\Windows ( the variable \%Systemroot%\ is that loaction ) so you should have a C:\windows\java folder.
