so I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and it's one of the lemons, with lots of issues, but I'm sorting those problems out with Amazon through emails and phone calls. but I figured they'd heard enough from me of late and I'd ask you clever people this question. when I'm on the go, either a passenger in a vehicle or out and about, how do I access my wifi server? I tried to and it wouldn't connect, then sulked for the rest of the day. I assume Amazon sent an update during the night because the next day when I started it at home it reconnected, much to my great relief, one less thing to berate them about. it's very happy with Linksys, when I'm at home, near the router, but out and about it's a cranky child.
thank you for edifying me-and no, I've never had an iphone, so this is all greek to me, I'm learning on the fly.

Are you saying you are trying to access Free Wifi while riding in a auto?

sort of, but suspect that's not possible.

what I mainly wish to know, is how do I access WiFi if I'm waiting somewhere-doctor's office, etc., and can't access my own Wifi. I don't even know if I have a password for my wifi, much less what the password is, or how to find it. when I'm here at home I just automatically connect to my Linksys wifi, no password needed. but if I see Linksys on the list when I'm out, I can't link to it, or anyone else's wifi. and I find some interesting wifi, when I'm out. I can be in a building which doesn't have wifi, but the building next to it, across the street from it or diagonally across the street will have it.

I can't fathom why something as important as that would be left out of the manual-but, that's the problem, the manual is practically non-extant, except as window dressing. it just doesn't have any substance at all.

As far as I know the only places you can access wifi is where there are hot spots like Starbucks, bookstores and other places that offer free wifi such as hotels where you are a guest, etc. If you can access wifi in your doctors office there has to be a free wifi in range.
If you have a data plan from your cell phone company and a phone that can access the internet it is possible to connect your Kindle to your smart phone and use your cell phone data plan if you have one.
At home you are connecting to your own wireless internet connection and you will only connect to that as long as you are in range of your signal like maybe your back yard.
In a moving vehicle you would need to be using a data plan from your cell phone company I think.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
