I was accidentally uninstalled my audio devices on my computer, and predictably I lost all sounds. Unfortunately when I reinstalled the programs onto my computer it registers the programs as working properly....but I still have no sound.

I've tried many suggestions on the net but none have worked and have decided to just ask about it myself. I have very little experience with handling computers, and it would be a great help if someone can give me advice on this problem.

I have a CQ5770F model # and the maker is Compaq (now HP.) I accidentally uninstalled my High Definition Audio Device and my Realtek High Definition Audio programs.

    Hi and welcome to MG's,

Download the free, Speccy http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html then run Speccy and click File > Save as Text File, then attach the log as per instructions below (note: as Speccy also now lists more data it likely will have your Windows licence serial key also in the log, so look for Operating System and under that Serial Number and delete the code and Save the log)

Then attach your log to your next post as per these instructions http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86880

This will give me the required information to find the correct fix for your system.

I have the speakers plugged in an the IO slot, but when I use my headset I either use a USB port or just the front slots.

Unfortunately I'm not near my broken computer right now, so I'll update you when I do use your fixes. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I'll try to get it finished, as I'm not near my damaged computer right now. I'd like to get that attachment deleted and post a proper one next time, but strangely enough I can't find the edit or delete button.

Oh, and on another note I use that IO slot for my speakers and the frontal ones whenever I use a headset.

    Hi,
To delete the attachment you must go into the user CP (top of the page) and manage attachments from there ok ;).The reason I asked about the I/O plate was to know if I was dealing with an on-board card (like yours is)or a pci card.
