I was going to install Ace Mega Codecs but it said it strongly recommends to uninstall my Divx and XviD programs. I have no idea what any of these 3 do but I was running a program and it said to download the Ace Mega Codecs Pak. So what is your opinion? Will it harm my computer if I uninstall those programs? Also is this Ace Mega Codec program that important. Thanks for any assistance

My opinion is to only install codecs as required.
Sometimes the mega codec packs can screw up a system (eg: installing codecs that take priority over others) and can be painful to remove.

If there's a file that doesn't seem to play correctly, I run it through Gspot analyzer and figure out if a particular codec is required or if any currently installed codec is compatible, etc.

Curious why you want to install mega pack, something not playing correctly? If everything running ok no need for extra fluff.

There has been a few short clips that friends sent me to watch and most of those times it said I need the other codec. I don't remember if the other two came with this system or not. But got that warning thus the reason for this thread

Thanks for your help as I think I will not install the Ace and just ignore it when ask to install it.
