The screen on my laptop Acer Aspire 5542G is white. It first happened a couple of weeks ago and a computer repair shop managed to get it back on for me. He heated something up so that the solder on the connections sort of repaired itself? He did say it may only be temporary, and it has been. He thought that the next step would need to be a new screen.
Once again all I get is a white screen from boot up. I can hear the computer sounds OK so know it is still working in the background. I do not have the leads or an external monitor to try it on one.
I'm assuming that because it 'comes and goes', the screen itself is OK, but maybe dodgy connections?
Can you help me at all please? Even if it's just what kind of repair shop to take it to.
    Many thanks, Jan :confused

    Hi Jan

Sadly I think your monitor has given up life! you could try to connect thr laptop to a TV screen or other monitor and that will work ok, need VGA cable connector.

If a new screen is needed then in reality a new laptop is worth getting as screens are expensive to buy and install, your local PC repair shop should be able to tell you a price.
