    Hey Everyone,

Around a week ago my computer (motherboard: nvidia c51) began to freeze up programs & completely freeze, forcing me to manaully shut down my computer. I'm almost positive I ran into viruses online, which may have affected my computer. Although I deleted everything, I feel it left damage behind.

I have restored my computer by pressing ALT > F10 & redoing windows XP, however it still freezes any time between 20 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes. Like I said, it freezes the programs, freezes completely, or gives me the blue screen that says something is not installed properly.

I feel as if it's my video driver, however I have tried several different computer recomended video drivers and I continue to have the same issues...

I have no idea what I should do to fix my computer, I have tried all week to find proper software to find problems & fix problems.

If anyone has any idea what could be happening please let me know!

    Thank you.

Right-click My Computer > Manage > System tools > Event viewer > System, now click View (at the top) > Filter, uncheck Information and Success audit then click ok. Can you attach a .jpeg of the resulting screen please?

First, welcome to Major Geeks! :wave :major
Second, viruses cannot cause permanent damage. If you deleted everything (as in you wiped/formatted the hard drive) then all traces of the viruses (and any damage they may have done) was completely erased forever. Viruses only affect software, not hardware. Which brings us to.... I think your problems are hardware related since you did a clean XP install and still get freezing. So, try running a full memory diagnostic (I like this one) and run at least 3-4 passes of the extended tests (it will take some time). Also run a full hard drive diagnostic. You can download the hard drive diagnostic for free from your hard drive maker's web site. So, in addition to satrow's suggestion above, try these things and let us know how it goes, and the results of the diagnostics.
