acer help

    I have an acer desktop 3 gigs of ram...2.4 ghz cpu...the computer was dropped and now it takes forever to load but eventually it does...I've reseated the ram...checked the cpu...checked the hard drive...windows 7 home premium...everything seems ok once it's loaded it just takes about 1/2 an hour to load

    Hi mate , my suggestion is

    Start
    Run msconfig
    Startup tab ( uncheck real careful some programme boxes
    Apply
    Ok
    system will ask you to restart
    push ok
    restart you machine


    which is your hdd free capacity ? :wave

    thanks for the reply...I guess I should have mentioned I did that already...199 gigs free of 640 gig hard drive...it runs through post fast but as soon as windows logo comes up it takes a lllllloooooong time to get to the desktop...

    I would do the HDD diagnostic first, and foremost.

    They can only take a certain amount of impact, especially if powered on.

    Was the unit powered on when it was dropped?

    I think you might want to do a chkdsk since it seems to be Windows which is slow. Might be a damaged file. Computer>right click C: and select Properties. Under tools tab select Error Checking and tick both boxes. Let it schedule for next boot and reboot the computer to let it run. See if it makes a difference in load time.
