EDIT: I didn't see your note before I posted this note below.
    Let me check!

It only took me 8 days and 50 posts to finish downloading the stuff needed to check for problems. You surely have better things to do tonight. Do you think we could "meet" again tomorrow to discuss the results?

That would give me time to fill out the financial info my current mobile home park requires (by 8/15) to apply for extra money for their purchase of my mobile home. A developer bought our park and will bulldoze the homes or yank them out 11/2/23. We've been fighting this for 4 years, but it's over now. It's a lovely park and I've been very happy here for 32 years.

Perhaps I'm worrying needlessly, but I'm terrified that whatever bug I have will steal my banking info or identity while filling out the forms and looking for a new place.

I know I've asked a lot of you, and I'd like to do something better than buy you a cup of coffee.

Sorry to take so long to answer, but I thought I should reboot and see how it works. It looks good! I'm still a little worried because I ran CCleaner with Firefox open and instead of the usual warning to close Firefox, it still shows I need to close Firefox and "Programs." Do you think that's OK?

I don't know how my last post disappeared but I was saying that I have financial forms to fill out by 8/15 and my biggest worry was that whatever was causing problems would be able to steal my bank info and my identity. Should I stop worrying now? Did FIX update all my protections?

I am SO GRATEFUL TO YOU! You have no idea how much this means to me. I'd like to do more than "buy us a cup of coffee." Actually, I'd like to buy you a Lamborghini! But as that's not possible, what else can I do?

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Absolutely, we can touch base tomorrow. Sorry to hear of your troubles, must be hard to deal with that stuff when you are talking about your home.

What I will tell you is the way personal data is stolen from a computer is by means of a Backdoor Trojan. There is absolutely no evidence of that type of malicious software on your computer. You should be safe to fill out what you need to.

Oh thank God! And again, thank you, Saint Gary!

I'm luckier than most here in the park. It's a seniors' park (I got in just under the wire when I was younger) and most of them are living on Social Security. Apartments are easily $2k/month. I don't know how they'll qualify with their Social Security incomes, because your income has to be 3 times the rent. That's even if you have a big savings account, and most of them don't. Some of these people are over 90 years old! We've had 2 decide to leave this mortal coil by their own hand. So please say a prayer for them!

Is there something I can do to thank you? I could buy you several cups of coffee on here. I know I've seen that on here somewhere. But I could send you a small tribute in the form of a custom made refrigerator magnet. (I like to go on Zazzle.) That way, you could be reminded of what a hero you've been!

I look forward to your reply but I have to make a few phone calls and feed my boy. I'll check back tomorrow.

    Greetings.

Unfortunately the story you are relating is a growing concern. It affects real people in real time in a real way.

Regarding CCleaner and the need to close programs, that is common. If a program is running in the background that CCleaner needs to access it requires that the program be closed before it is examined.

Regarding the number of "Cookies" I suspect the numbers you are reporting are not related only to cookies. If you are running the default settings on CCleaner it will clear out a lot of other stuff as well. For instance, I just ran it on my test machine and it showed over 10,000 Firefox temporary Internet files.

I appreciate your kindness but my preference is to offer a free gift to others in response to the free gift given to me in my Savior. I do this as a service to Him to make Him known. In other words, I am serving Him and it happens to involve serving you through servicing your computer. I trust you understand.

If you feel we are all set I have one final post that will clean up tool stuff and provide information for you to consider going forward from here.

I'm glad you realize what's happening these days to so many people.

When I run CCleaner Health Check, it says "trackers" rather than cookies and doesn't specify anything more than that. I have Professional version v6.14.10584(64-bit), so how do you get such detailed info?

I ran the full virus scan in 360 Total Security (the free version) and it found 2 things; 1. an empty folder on my desktop and 2.something in a registry upon start up. I tried to save the info on Notepad(?) and on a screenshot but I don't see it. Anyway, I had 360 clear 1, above, and it disabled 2, above. So is that good enough?

    I checked Windows Security and:
    1. Virus and Threat Protection shows my 360 Total Security and no current threats. Last run at 9:10 AM today at PST.
    2. Account Protection says I'm not signed in with Microsoft. I don't think I ever have, but should I?
    3. Firewall and Network Protection shows everything is on
    4. App and Browser Control shows Reputation-based protection is on and Exploit protection is built into Windows 10
    5. Device Security shows Standard Hardware security not supported. This is an old computer so I don't know if that's why.
    6. Device Performance and Health shows no issues, but it mentions Fresh Start, which will give me a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows. I'm not sure my computer would benefit from this or if this would cause problems because of the age of my computer. Is it OK to leave it alone?

I am a lapsed Catholic but still follow and try to live by Jesus's words in the New Testament. You are a TRUE CHRISTIAN, following Matthew 25:34–46, and are a good example to those who believe and those who don't.

If the above looks good to you, I'm ready for your final post!

After selecting Analyze it shows a list of what has been detected. There are specific entries for browser cookies.

Yes, what you selected with 360 is good.

You do not need to sign in at Microsoft.

I only use the Fresh Start option if it is apparent the operating system is corrupt or otherwise not working properly. You are correct, at this point you would not benefit by it.

Thank you for your kind words. I boast only that I am a sinner saved by grace. All Honor and Praise need go to God for His love and kindness.

It has been a pleasure working together with you on this. I hope things go well with you, your son, and your living situation.

Here is our final step and some additional information to consider.

    • Click Yes on the Disclaimer
    • Place a check mark in Delete Tools, Create Restore Point, and Delete in 7 days
    • Click Run
    • Click OK on All operations are completed
    • KpRm will delete itself from you Desktop and you can either save or remove the report that is generated
