If I need Active Directory (Win2003) to run a script every month, as supposed to every day at startup/logon, how can I accomplish that? In group policy I only see an option to run a script per day not once a week or month.

Could I use windows scheduled tasks to tell active directory to run a certain script in an OU for a certain day? Thanks

Yes, you can use scheduled tasks to run a script, but what it affects depends on the script.

For example, if you are moving this script from a logon script for a workstation to a scheduled task on the server, it is going to affect the server, as opposed to the workstation, unless your script's code explicitly defines the machine it is to send commands to.

Why don't you tell us a little more about the script? What does it do? How does it do it?

Are you opposed to posting code?

I want to use a window server update services script that automatically searches for windows updates, applies the update, and reboots the pc.

I would like to trigger this script once a month (patch Tuesday) via Active Directory but I currently see only an option to do this every day at logon/startup via gpedit.msc. Any suggestions? Thanks!
