my brother has a laptop with windows xp. He recently had some problems with popups and had a repairman fix his computer. When my brother turned his pc on for the first time everything seemed to work just fine, so he immediately started to install some anti-virus program and he got a message saying something about active x controls on his desktop.

He not really sure what the message was saying, but he clicked "ok" and at that point his computer stopped working. He can start it up and get to his desktop but nothing is clickable. He can't seem to do a system restore or anything.

    Is anyone familiar with this?

Thanks so much for any asistance!

Try getting into safe mode ....or last know good config ..(f8 repeatedly as it starts up before it gets to loading windows). Report back.
