Ad Aware Substitute

    I am looking for a freeware substitute for Ad Aware, if any decent ones exist.
    The Ad Aware is a resource hog, and, it NEVER finds anything. I will uninstall it in any event, as it is a waste of time and resources.

    I also have AVG Free, Spyware Blaster, and Eusing Free Registry cleaner installed. I run each of these weekly.

    We took Ad-Aware out of our cleaning procedure years ago for the same reasons. See other tools here: How to Protect yourself from malware!

    SUPERAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes is where you should be looking. Install only one if purchased since they have active protection. If using the free versions, you can install both for their scanners.

    I installed Malwarebytes.
    Much faster, no glitches, not a resource hog.
    It's a pleasure to update/run a scan.
    It found no infections, either, so I must be doing something right.:)

    Perhaps! But remember that it is not an antivirus program either. It does not look for things that an AV will look for so hopefully per the how to protect thread, you also have an AV and a software firewall installed.
