Good article. There's always controversy over which one is "better", and obviously, at this time, Ad-Aware is more thorough.

Personally, I've always favored running both proggies, under the assumption that what one misses, the other one may get, and that's evident here. Both programs left stuff behind that the other one found. Luckily, it's not an either/or choice. Run 'em both!

A matter of Prefference everything has flaw's

I don't think anyone should limit them selfs to just those program's, each with there own success on any given day!
I use both, and half dozen other's.
I would like to submit this Ad-Aware should be used with caution last week ran on a pc, Ad-Aware crashed it had to reinstall OS, and by coinsedense a friend had same happen to him, both downloaded here at MG! (downloaded at in same week, different times, different cities)
I'm not Knocking MG, Maybe bad download, Not sure?
    Just word of caution!
One last note! downloaded Ad-Aware yesterday here at MG NO PROBLEMS

On that first link from Koatic I noticed they have there own spy stuff going on, they tryed to ping my pc

I found the article interesting, and somewhat misleading.
One of the problems with reviewing such S/W is that the reviewer, especially if s/he isn't a regular user of it, doesn't have the time to explore and find out all the options and features.
This readily apparent in the reviewer complaining that SpyBot has no way to delete multiple entries in the list of found items. Errr... you have to enable the expert user interface which gives you more options, including 'select/delete all', along with a lot more.
I dont' know how the reporter/reviewer set up SB and AA, but from using both, SB is ALOT more difficult to configure, as there are myriad options that aren't 100% apparent as to what they do. In addition, SB allows you to ignore individual 'problems', if you condider them to be OK for your use.

Now, I switched from AA to SB, for no good reason, just a mention and recommendation from somebody, somewhere. After getting SB configured right, I actually find it easier to use than AA.
Their vendor support conference also was helpful and prompt (actually, another user was), when I had a niggling problem with SB messing up my screen.

Just for grins and giggles, I ran SpyBot, then Ad-Aware. AA found no additional problems.
I then did a day's worth of web serfing (no pr0n or file sharing sites, just pedestrian stuff), and ran AA then SB.
SB found 5 add'l cookies that AA didn't think harmful. xbit labs was one of them ;-), along with google and eBay, and 2 advertising sites (which I would consider harmful), so even though both had their latest data files(as of the time of the test, as I used both their on-line update facilities), they don't have the same data in them.
So, based on that quick test, SB wins.
BTW, in running the test, I now realize that the reason I switched is that I find SB more difficult to configure, but easier to use.
