AD-AWARE won't run!

Operating system Windows ME, computer late model Dell: Have loaded Ad-aware two times over 12 months. Each attempt to run results in the following error message: A required .dll file AAWHELPER.DLL was not found.
Indeed a search for this .dll shows it missing. Any help would be appreciated.

 

That file should be installed by AdAware during the program installation. Did you try a fresh download for the second attempt? May have been a corrupted download the first time.

Also, did you have any other programs running when you did the installation? Particularly any anti-virus software? That can mess up program installations.

 

I have downloaded several times, deleting previous, however, anti-virus is a good point. I did have Norton running each time.

Will attempt to disable Norton and try again.

I followed your advice, disabled Norton, the file opens and seems to be working.
