In Ad-Block+ (and please don't worry - those who might - I have no funds to really purchase anything from anyone anyway, so......)...

The program now offers to set itself up (setup "Easylist" which is the one I've always chosen to go with) "without element hiding" ... is this a "Good" way to go, please?

    Thanks in advance,
    g...

Yes, the default settings you've listed are what I use, and it works like a charm for me. Other's might recommend additional block lists to install though.

I'm not following. What does the program do, 'block ads'?

If so, is it available @ MG grc123?

aatony - adblock plus is an add-on for firefox, and yes it blocks advertisements from even loading when browsing sites. Loading advertisements that you don't even want to see takes longer for web pages to load, so using adblock plus helps speed up page loading, and you don't have to look at advertisements you don't care about to begin with.

grc123 - I use adblock plus & easylist, I don't know about the element hiding part, but any ads that slip through can be right clicked and added to the block list . I wouldn't surf the web without it. You can modify newly blocked ads, using the "*" (wildcard) so that ALL ads from any certain source would be blocked, instead of only the one you right clicked .

Wow. Thanks FED UP, that sounds great. I haven't used FF for some time and I'll have toget back into it. You're right, I don't want ads!:major

    Thanks for the info!

Adblock Plus can be had in FF, Google Chrome and I believe to have read also (new) in Opera. I don't know of any browsers other than IE which also has an Adblock.

I subscribed to Easylist and that should be enough if you don't use any other language while browsing.

Too many subscriptions can slow down your browsing. ;)

    Here's the link for IE's Adblock: http://simple-adblock.com/

An other big advantage of having Adblock installed is the absence of ads that say: click on me. ;) Therefore it also adds a safety factor for the novices.

Regarding AdBlock+: keeping it enabled on MGs may cause some weirdness to happen. In the interest of supporting the site, and get all functionality from the site/forum, just click on the red ABP thing in the upper corner, and disabled it on majorgeeks.com :)
