Ad virus

I have a problem when go to the download page of Mcafee that it says Page not displayed. This doesn't happen until I hit their download button. I thought if I upgrade to MSIE 7.0, perhaps that will work. Again when I got to the download page ...Page not displayed. There are a couple of other sites that this has happened to. I also have noticed "male enhancement" ads where ever there is a space for ads. THis includes cartoon network where my kids like to play! Although I am unsure if the two are related, the two instances happened at about the same time. I have run Lavasoft and spybot as well as AVG. The problem persists. Is there a name for the virus I am encountering? I am unsure if I should follow the malware path on this site or continue to treat it as a virus. Thanks.

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
