I taken all the steps in your "read me first" section but it has been a few days. All instructions was followed to the best of my ability. Everything seemed to load and run fine. The problem still exist however I am just finding the time to work on this again so I am posting the Hijack this log from that date. Thanx for your help.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You need to attach only the logs that were requested in the READ & RUN ME. Please attach the below logs:

    • SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Malwarebytes
    • ComboFix
    • MGlogs.zip from MGtools

    Here are 3 of them.

First before I did into your logs, I'm going to assume that you are using FireFox and that this is where you are having the problem with ad.yieldmanager.

Please download and install this Ad Block Plus extension for Firefox. Now let me know if you still have a problem.

Now let's take care of some other items in your logs ( not related to ad.yieldmanager).

First you must disable Spybot's Teatimer as requested in the READ & RUN ME. See this: How to disable Spybot's TeaTimer

Now run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {24180B00-2EB6-11d7-BD6F-004854603DCE} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
    O16 - DPF: {8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93} -
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0015-0000-0006-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0015-0000-0009-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0015-0000-0010-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in 1.5.0_10) -
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0001-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0003-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -
    O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA} -

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Your assumption about me running Firefox is sort of correct. This problem began with my wife's yahoo email account when she was running explorer. I changed her browser in order to try and combat the problem but it didn't work. She could check her mail if logged into the computer on my, "Darryl" account so I made her a new account, "Mama", and transferred her files from her old, "Karla" account. That did not work. In case your instruction is specific to Firefox I am using it. I am logged into the "Mama" account and I did run the Ad Blocker Plus per your instruction. I had deleted the Spybot program and re-loaded it when I was doing the "Read Me First" task and I selected to not run the teatimer but after I received your instruction I logged onto the "Darryl" account to discover that it was not correct their and I corrected it.

I have attached C:ComboFix.txt however when I try to attach MGlogs.zip I get the following error message: You have already attached this file in thread : ad.yieldmanager.com/st%3Fad_type

When I send this message I will try again.

    Thank you, Thank You.

I tried to attach MGlogs.zip but I received the same error.

    Sorry.

This means you did not run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat as requested to get a new log and are thus trying to attach the same old log.;)

Note!!!! Make sure you are running all steps while logged into the problem account. Your first MGlogs.zip file was obtained while logged into your account not Mama like ComboFix was. If you don't get the logs from the correct account we cannot see problems related to the account having problems.

In regards to the proper account; The problem started in her "Karla" account but it spread to where she couldn't check her mail on any account, mine, hers or either of our kids accounts. If I done something in any account but "Mama" I apologize. I have worked on this off and on for days but I have tried to stay consistent. Sorry for any inconvenience.

You asked me to report how things are working now and so I tried the worst case scenario. I logged into her "Karla" account and used explorer to check her mail and it worked. This is where the problem started and where it was the worst. I can't know that it will work the next time but this time was a success. Thank you. :)

You're welcome. Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
