I am buying a MP3 player that has a Micro USB 2.0 port & comes with a Micro USB 2.0 cable for charging and transferring music from computer to player. My 9 year old laptop (Windows 7) has the old (type A?) USB 2.0 ports. Am I correct that I need an adapter cable to connect the player Micro 2.0 cable to my laptop USB 2.0 port?
What adapter cable do I need to buy?
    Thanks.

The cable that comes with the MP3 player you're buying has a micro USB port connector on one end and a USB type A connector on the other end.
No need to buy an adapter cable.

I own 4 mp3 players. The charging cable of all has a "normal" USB connector on one end that either connects to a computer or a wall wart charger. I have never needed to buy any adapter. (I also own 3 android tablets and an android phone. They too have a "normal" USB connector on one end.)
