I keep getting a system error-- Description 'Could not login to service. Are you running this application as another user? Application terminates.'

I'm NOT using it as another user, as I am the ONLY user--I don't even have a gues account set up. I did an add/remove program uninstall but wound up having to use Windows Install cleanup as I got an error msg on uninstall as well... This particular error is on the reinstalled version.

Please advise as I got PARTWAY thru a scan last night and saw that I have quite a bit (60+ at about 2/3 complete) of malware.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks hon But I need to resolve the problem with Adaware before I can do much about the baddies. Well--I mean I could use a different program, but other than this issue I really like adaware...

According to Lavasoft, this is their remedy for the 1814 error:

To solve the problem you experienced, you will need to remove a possibly corrupt settings file for Ad-Aware 2007. To do this:

Open explorer and navigate to the file. The file is usually stored in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007.? If you cannot find the folder please set your explorer to show hidden files. (To do this: open explorer, go to the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options." Select the "View" tab and choose "Show Hidden Files" under "Hidden Files and Folders".)
The file to remove is called "settings.aaw". Please be sure not to delete any other files.
Restart your computer. Ad-Aware will start as normal.

But Kestrel's idea about visiting the malware forum may be good idea. If ad-aware doesn't seem to get the job done, start here for help http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

You know, I didn't even think of visiting Lavasoft *hangs head in shame* And I had someone post to another question I had in the malware forum, so I'll follow that before I post again. But that's my next stop if things keep going wrong.

    Thank you!
