Adaware Se Problems

    I have recently downloaded adaware se personal and when I double click on the icon I get an error message that says: adaware.exe has encountered an error and must close. Does anyone know what this is and how to get adaware to work on my computer. XP

    Let's first assume that it is not a malware problem and maybe just an installation problem.

    Follow the steps below:
    1) Goto Add/Remove programs and uninstall Ad-Aware SE
    2) Reboot your PC
    3) Delete the C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal folder (this is the default place to install it. If you installed it someplace else, delete that folder).
    4) Re-download it from this link: Ad-Aware SE make sure you download this one and do not use the previous download.
    5) Install from the file you just downloaded and make sure you install it into the default location.

    Let me know the results.
