I recently had some issues with Adaware 2007. It crashed, and kept putting a request to supply lavasoft with the reason on my toolbar. I did so more than once, but it wouldn't go away. Nor could I uninstall it.

Eventually I got rid of it, as for some reason it decided to uninstall on the nth try, but when I reinstalled it it just crashes when I try to run it. The new install uninstalled ok after that though.

So I was wondering. I have Zone Alarm and AVG free editions, and my OS is Vista.

What spyware protection would you recommend I add?

    Thanks...

Thanks for the reply. I understood there were issues with AVG 8, and I still have not upgraded to that. Is it now considered safe?

I will dispense with Adaware and download the software you recommend.

    Thanks again

Ooops, too late. I installed it as is. The only issue seems to be it's insistence on switching off the "Resident Shield" component every now and then. Should I be concerned...?

    Thanks for your help, btw.
