I think Harlow has the speed correct but you need laptop memory which is 200pin.

Take a look here at your memory specs towards bottom of specs (200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834157697

I think these would be your choices from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...600000426&IsNodeId=1&name=DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

You have two slots and it came with 3gb of memory. So you probably have 2gb in one slot and 1gb in the other. If you are upgrading you probably want to remove the 1gb and replace it with a 4gb module (be careful when shopping you don't want a 2x2gb kit but a single 4gb module).

A program like Speccy will tell you exactly what you currently have in each slot. It is best to match the speed which is written as DDR2 800 or PC6400.

That is PC6400 or DDR 800 like my link in previous post. The 399mhz (dual channel) should be multiplied by two which gives you the ~800 so that is correct. The 3072mb tells you you have a total of 3gb installed.

I just tried Speccy and didn't realize it didn't tell you what size module was in each slot. SIW will tell you the size module in each slot. (If you install it make sure to pay attention during install and uncheck the box that offers to install RealPlayer. You don't want that program.)

I'm pretty sure with the 3gb of RAM you have installed, that you have (1) 2gb module and (1) 1gb module. If you are upgrading you probably want to remove the 1gb module and replace it with a 4gb module. Just make sure you are shopping for laptop memory of DDR 800 also written as PC6400. Another double-check would be to make sure it is 200 pin, which is for laptops.

To take advantage of dual channel architecture which your PC MAY have and any consequent speed advantage that that may imply, you must install identical DIMMs in the appropriate slots (if you have more than 2, otherwise the 2 you have are the appropriate ones !). Also called "matched pair" and commonly available as as 2-DIMM kits (I seem to remember all Kingston DIMMs with the same P/N are matched, might be wrong though - Crucial certainly sell 2-DIMM kits).

Note that if your two DIMMs are not the same capacity (size) they will certainly not be a matched pair, and you will not be taking full advantage of any dual channel architecture that your PC may have. (not all PCs are designed with dual channel architectures)

[please correct me if I have written anything incorrect]
