I seem to keep having a problem with the add-on. Flash9f.ocx.
A warning window informs me about this. Then the window I'm in closes.
I know that I can disable it. Any idea how to fix it.

    Thanks

Download the latest flash plug-in, uninstall yours & install the new one.

I'm having exactly the same problem with the Adobe Flash9f.ocx. Althought I don't have proof, my gut feeling is that my hardware just isn't up to par. I'm running Win XP Pro on an older, under powered Gateway laptop. I think the problem is a video/graphic one. I have noticed the failure will usually occur when I go to a website that has some active graphic advertisment playing. Webpages with static images seem just fine.

I have re-installed Flash several times and nothing seems to help. At one point it seemed like changing my screen resolution helped. In the end, it was maybe a marginal difference.

Hopefully, someone out there has some ideas. I have resigned myself to the fact there is probably no fix, given my old hardware.

Plodr - Thanks for your help and the tip.

I had download and used the Adobe uninstaller each time I tried to reinstall Flash9f.ocx. It didn't make any difference.

I don't want to hijack jeffa123's thread. Please excuse my additional comments.

Over the last couple of months I have tried three different operating systems (Win98 SE, Win2K SP4, WinXP Pro) for various reasons on my laptop. Adobe Flash would not run properly with any of them.

Also, I have tried to use the Firefox browser with the appropriate Flash add-on. No love there either.

This has led me to believe it's a hardware short coming. What is strange though, is the fact that I don't have problems with any other programs.

The laptop isn't my primary PC, so this problem is of no consequence. Still, I keep coming back to it as a challenge when I'm bored.

    Hi

If the uninstall using the aforementioned Adobe uninstaller and re-install of Flash doesnt work do please post the answers to the below.

Also after using the uninstaller goto this location C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and make sure all the contents of the flash folder are deleted as this is where that file is located and at times the uninstaller may just leave it on the PC still.

Which Windows version and which broswer is being used?

Also what is error message recieved?

I havn't had a problem with the Flash9f.ocx acting up for 5 days. Today I'm getting that small window again the tells me there is a problem with it, then I lose the window I have open.

I upgraded the OS from 98 to XP about 4 years ago. I have never had a problem with this Flash9f.ocx before 3 weeks ago.

Downloaded the uninstaller from Adobe, and ran the program as instucted. It seems I can't get rid of all the Flash files. When I delete them they come back, specifically.
    SWFlash C:\Program Files\Online Services... Set-up information
    SWFlash.ocx C:\Program Files\ Online Serivices... ActiveX control
    Flash C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat... MPP file

Do I need to have these deleted to re-install the Flash. Thanks

    Hi

Goto Add/Remove and remove any Adobe Flash Player Plugin, Adobe Flash Player ActiveX, Adobe Shockwave player if found.

Then run the uninstaller from Adobe again, then goto the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\ folder and delete the Shockwave and Flash folders.

Then run CCLeaners Cleaner and Registry tools ( run the Registry one a few times until no items are found )

Run the Windows Installer Cleanup tool and delete any mentions of Flash or Shockwave.

    Reboot.

Then install Flash and Shockwave again

    Flash Player
    Shockwave Player
