Hey guys, odd problem here. After installing updates for windows, and downloading and installing AIM at a friends insistance, I am finding that Add/Remove programs is no longer working properly. First off, the list is only populating 1/3 of the programs I have installed on the computer. When I click on most of them programs it does populate, i cannot choose to remove/change the programs... very odd problem, only things I have done recently were install a patch for BF2, run windows update (6 updates) and install AIM. Im wondering if one of the HDD is dieing, however, I can still play the games that arent listed in the add/remove programs. Have run virus/adware scan and all come up negative. Use AVG Free Edition, Ad-aware, and Zone Alarm, updated daily. Getting concerned because it seems every time i reset my computer less and less programs are coming up on the add/remove list. Impending HDD implosion? What do yall think!?

    Hi Tubnotub1
What you could try to do is boot from your Windows CD (change boot order in BIOS), and when the options come up, choose 'Repair Windows installation'.
Also, maybe try reinstalling Internet Explorer if that's what you use (maybe the Windows Repair does this, not sure.)
I would have thought it was a software problem rather than the HDD if you can use the computer normally apart from just Add/Remove programs trouble.

Well, attempted to repair windows, it didnt fix the problem. Looked up the problem in the micrsoft database and they suggested windows repair (didnt work) or messing with the registry editor, which im not comftorable with, looks like I just have to deal, unless i want to reformat and start from scratch... im up for any suggestions though!

Also, after repairing windows AVG became corrupt and i had to re-install it. Checking in the add/remove program I found that I am able to uninstall AVG, but still nothing else... not sure what that means, but it appears to my uneducated self that something altered they code for add/remove or something *sigh*
