On the desk top I built, I went to remove a couple of programs and noticed that my add/remove list has a enormous gap in it between two of the installed programs, anyone ever seen this before and how do i fix this? any help would be great thanks..:confused

Do you have AutoCAD 2002 installed on the machine?

If so the problem is simply that the entry in the Registry for the AutoCAD uninstaller specifies its icon incorrectly. To fix this:

Using regedit or some other registry editor, search the Data fields for the string aclt.exe . (You do not need to search the Key or Value fields, just Data).
Step through (<F3> in regedit) the entries in which aclt.exe appears watching for one where aclt.exe is followed by a comma and -1 .
When you find such an entry, it should be the data field for a DisplayIcon key. The aclt.exe will be preceded by the full path to that file in your installation, so it will look something like:

    "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2002\aclt.exe,-1".

Edit the data string, changing the -1 to 1.

Thanks Lev for looking and answering. Does this program exist on windows operating system or is this something I have to download?

I also was looking around the programs folder and found stuff from programs that were supposed to be removed from the add remove list. Is this normal how do you completely delete something right?

You would have to have installed AutoCad....it doesn't pre-exist in your system.

If you go to Add/Remove programs you will see it in the list if you have it. Let me know what you find.

Things that are appearing in the programs folder that you know you have already deleted are just likely to be empty folders. Open it and see. You might want to run something like CCleaner to clear up crap laying around after you have uninstalled some programs. (1st button down on left-hand menu bar). Also run the registry cleaner within CCleaner.(2nd option down on left-hand menu bar) Make sure you opt to Back Up Registry before you run the registry cleaner, just in case you need to go back.

Lev is definitely on the right track. The big blank space is USUALLY associated with AutoCAD having a negative value in its registry uninstall key, but if any program has a -1 for the value, it will result in a big empty space in Add/Remove Programs. So, click Start > Run and type regedit and press Enter. Then navigate to this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
and start looking thru all the entries listed under that key. Each sub key will look like this
{5783F2D7-0065-0409-0000-0060B0CE6BBA} So you'll click on each sub key and look for an entry that says "DisplayIcon". If you don't see DisplayIcon, move to the next one. When you find DisplayIcon the last part of it's value should be a zero or a one. If it's a -1 you need to change it to a one. That's it. It can can take some time, so here's a link to a Visual Basic script that will check for negative values in Add/Remove Programs
    http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/ARPNegCheck.vbs
And here's a link to an article with more info about this problem. This article only mentions the well known AutoCAD issue, but I've seen the problem with several other programs also, like an HP printer driver for example... anyway, here's the article link: http://groups.google.co.in/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.general/msg/3632fda54259d28e?hl=en
