ADI 1986 _ Sound capture

I have been meaning to record a game... But I have experienced some trouble.

I have a laptop with windows xp sp2. My soundcard is an ADI 1986.

In my old PC, in the volume controller, I had a lot of options in the record part, there was the line-in and out, the wave controller,etc...
If I captured the sound, while wave was selected, it would record all the sound that was sent to the card, no phones, no mic, no nothing.

In my laptop, I tried to do the same thing, except, in the record part (HD Audio capture) it only has the microphone's input volume, which I don't need, since I don't have a microphone... What happened to the wave option?

I have no idea how to fix this... Is it a driver problem? Maybe I have installed it wrong... Or is the soundcard that doesn't support it?

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Any question just ask. Thanks in advance.

Hi

Depends at times what the manufacturer adds to the soundcards driver/software, at times and especially in OEM PCs as in laptops the system builder as in say Dell, HP etc decide on a specific hardware requirement from the makers like realtek etc so these may not have all the features that the full Audio chip or drivers that retail products have.

But what you can do is check that your Laptop maker has an updated driver for your PC.
