    Hi all

When I access the internet I kept getting Adobe installer asking if I wanted to install or don't install, don't know whats going on, this has been happening for some time now and I thought that I had sorted it, as its been quiet for a few days now, then today it started again, in the past if I didn't install it, it kicked me out of the internet, this hasn't happened this time, but what did happen was that when I tried to access the Majorgeeks website it suddenly appeared again (see attached) and when I went to print screen and copy to a blank word document, when I came back to the website, it had disappeared and the website cannot be accessed window was there instead, although all I did was click back and it came back on again, anyone else have this problem before, its more of nuisance than anything else.

    Where's the attached picture?

What OS? What browser? What Adobe software?

    Hi Akhilles,

Sorry about browser etc, my OS is Windows XP, Browser is IE and as for Adobe, I have Adobe Photoshop CS, Photoshop Album 2, Image Ready CS, Illustrator CS and Adobe Reader 8. Don't know what happened to the attachment, I tried three times to attach, thought it had attached and that maybe I was just looking in the wrong place, just tried again and the file is too large, cannot reduce it any further.

Right click My Computer, choose Manage. Under Computer Management, click Event Viewer to expand it. Highlight Application log, then in the list, locate the most recent with a source of Windows Installer, or something to that degree. Double click it to read it.

Copy and paste that text contents here.

    Screenshot not needed.

    Hi Adrynalyne

Did as you asked, the closest to Adobe installer was indeed windows installer, but that was on the 22nd July and had to do with Talk Talk, as I had somehow stopped the internet from working, now just as I accessed your post, the same thing happened again with Adobe installer, I again checked the event log and nothing was indicated.

Well, what other errors do you see occurring around the same time then?

    Hi Adrynalyne

Ok, initially the only thing that used to happen was that it threw me out of the internet, however thats not happening now, (fingers crossed) sometimes it appeared when I came onto the Majorgeeks website, then on other sites, so not just Major geeks, possibly something to do with active X) I then started to look on the internet for a solution, one site suggested downloading the latest Adobe reader, so I did so along with any other Adobe download, that seemed to work for a couple of days, then all of a sudden its back, only as I've just said its not throwing me off the internet, although I've noticed what is happening even when it doesn't appear, when I start up the internet, I get the, do you want to work off line box or connect or retry box, when I click one of the latter two, it connects no problem, I have to say it only appears when I'm on the net, thats about it for now, nothing else that I can think of.

Sorry, I should have been specific.

What other errors show in event Viewer?

    Check the system logs too.

    There are recent error and warning messages in the Event viewer, such as;
    3 x warnings = userenv's - 24/07/08
    5 x errors = 1 x application error and 4 x ESENT - 24/07/08
    3 x warning = userenv - 22/07/08
    1 x error = crypt32 - 22/07/08
    3 x warnings = userenv - 22/07/08

These continue all the way back to 02/03/08 the majority are the same warnings and error messages, only a few are different which are towards March, April and May, I right clicked the error and warning messages and went to properties and tried to copy the info, but there is no copy facility anywhere, I tried a right click after highlighting, but to no avail and no edit facility on the info bar at the top, also how do I get to the system logs, I have been there before but cannot remember, thanks very much for your help, it is appreciated.

Is that correct or should it be ESET, which is an antivirus program?

    Hi Plodr

Yes thats correct it is ESENT, however I believe that you are right, it is the antivirus program, I used to have it on my PC, but thought that I had uninstalled it, maybe not properly, anyway if Adrynalyne is reading this, is it possible that this is something to do with Active X, maybe I'm having a problem with that, as this only happens when I'm on the internet and only on certain websites, the sites where it keeps popping up regularly are Estate Agents websites (Realtors) among of course others.

Ah, it might be that Adobe wants to install the latest flash player. Macromedia used to own flash but it and shockwave are owned by Adobe. So if you are on a site with lots of bells and whistles, Adobe would probably popup encouraging you to install the latest so you an see all the ads and flashy things on the site.

    Hi Plodr

So any idea how to fix this?

    Download and install this.

It will put a Windows Installer Cleanup icon in your start menu. Launch it, and look for Adobe Flash. If its there, remove it with this utility. Assuming it fixes the error, then go to adobe.com and reinstall flash.

    Hi Adrynalyne

Ok I actually did that a couple of weeks ago after trawling through the web, it worked for a while and then same old problem again, anyway did as you asked and have now re-installed, will try it throughout the day and see if anything happens, just been thinking, could it be something to do with some or one of my PC's defences e.g I run Zone alarm, SBS&D with tea timer, Adaware and AVG version 8, never been very good at configuring them to suit, some of the techy stuff's a bit over my head, must be an age thing.

    Regards

    Pozzy.
