Hi, my name's Nick, I'm having some trouble with adware. Google and youtube have ads not from these sites as well as popups. This began after I installed a program for downloading youtube videos from cnet. Rookie mistake, eh? Anyway, I initially ran ESET (my only AV and firewall software), CCleaner and Spybot without the problem being resolved. Now I'm here.

I have Windows Professional 64-bit. I use PowerISO disk emulation software but I have disabled the extra drives. View hidden files and known file extensions are set to on. I ran CCleaner again with the settings from your guide. UAC is disabled. I have installed and run scans for RogueKiller, MB, TDSSKiller, HitmanPro and MGtools. Malwarebytes did not detect any problems. I am still encountering problems, however. I've attached the logs to this post. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: I am also getting heaps of Text-Enhance in Chrome on most websites.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You either did not allow MGtools to finish running before getting the log or you did not shutdown protection before running it. The log is extremely incomplete. However your problem is most likely with Google Chrome itself. The easiest solution is to export ( backup ) your bookmarks and then uninstall Chrome. Then delete the Chrome folder to remove the corruption. Then redownload ( using the safer Internet Explorer ) and reinstall Chrome.

Here is a safe link for Chrome >> Google Chrome 27.0.1453.94 Stable

Perfect, uninstalling it resolved the problem. Thanks very much for your help :) Sorry I didn't let MGtools run the whole way, wasn't really sure what to look for and just saw the .zip in my folder so assumed it was finished. Thanks again, especially for replying so quickly <3

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. .
    3. Go back to step 4 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    8. .
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
