Adult Filter

    hi, could anyone recommend an internet filter that automatically blocks adult content.

    You could use the Content Advisor in IE to block unwanted content ( In IE goto ( Tools > Internet Options > Content > Content Advisor > Enable and then Settings to adjust to what you want )

    other options are

    SurfPass

    NetNanny etc

    None are going to be foolproof, so just keep that in mind. The easiest option I've seen is with keyword blocking that comes built into most routers. If you have a router, access it's menu (http://www.routerlogin.net for Netgear) and start adding keywords. This in combination with a software blocker is your best bet IMO.
