I purchased Advanced System Repair Pro to hopfully speed up my computer and maybe get rid of unwanted system files etc.....

So while the program was running, and it got to the registry section, it said it was making a backup of my registry files.

After the program ran (I stepped away for awhile) I came back to a screen that wanted me to send a report in which was recommended. It wasn't from the ASR Pro. It was something like if I booted in safe mode. The cursor was bigger and it had the windows screen look about it.

I clicked on the send in button and the system attempted to restart. That's when I got the kernel, blue screen of death.

I eventually figured out how to start my computer with the latest registry backup. It started but everything is way out of daye.

So my question is this, if ASR Pro made a backup of my registry, how can I get it to replace the one I am starting my computer with now?

The ASR Pro is version 1.8.1.2.

    Thanks in advance.....

Well I tried to get to the site for Advanced System Repair Pro
    Code:
    https://advancedsystemrepair.com/
    and malwarebytes blocks me.
Seems like it is a bogus site. So I can't offer any help with the program.

I did find this on a site I could get to without MBAM blocking
So email and ask your question.

I would not recommend the software.I would get a refund and go with advance system care. It's a rip off tool from ASC.

Yea, when I called the tech support I got someone that was not affiliated with the software but they were under contract to support Advanced System Repair Pro.

SAfter an hour with them on the phone they wanted me to buy a subscription where a tech would go thru my computer and fix all the broken registry keys. Kind of like my own personal computer guru.

I said I am not paying for anything, and hung up.

That software messed up my computer. It crashed and I had to restart with a much earlier restore point. I have a full backup of my hard drive but for some reason my usb port are not seeing things that are plugged into them.

Anyway, thanks for all the help.

How did you create this 'full backup'. Did you create a disk image, and if so with which software? Or is it just a file backup?

I use a program named Macrium Reflect 7. I don't think it is an image backup.

Macrium Reflect 7.1 IS an imaging program and, imo anyway, the best available. So with MR I assume you created a disk image and stored it on an external drive? Can you boot into MR now? If you can you need to plug in your external drive, fire up MR and browse to your image file and click Restore. It can't restore while you are in Windows so it should reboot your system and restore the image for you. We'll be very lucky if it goes as smoothly as that but have a go and let me know what happens. Good luck.

EDIT - if you have personal files on the disk they will be overwritten by the versions in the image, so if some have been changed in the meantime don't restore the image yet - there are other steps you will need to take to save your updated files.

I had a boot rescue CD which I used to boot into Macrium. I was able to use Macrium to use the last backup I had to clone my C drive.

After a short while the process finished and I now have my computer back the way it was before.

    Thamks all for the help....
