Advice/Help with FF Add-ons (Extensions?)

    Two in particular:

    1. Adblock (Plus?) - seems when I used to check a page (and I am speaking almost exclusively of email - Yahoo! & Hotmail), at least a few of the 30 or 40 "ads" were blocked - now, I get messages such as "0 of 109 blocked on this page" (?!!?). When I try to go down and select some to block, well, it seems I haven't a clue about what to do - I see "Images" & "Script's" (among other things) to block, but some won't seem to allow themselves to be blocked, while others render my email account inoperable. Is this a "one at a time and see how it goes process", or is there another method?

    2. No Script - while it seems to cause for some "clunkiness" with the loading/display of (all) pages, and thus problems with trying to maneuver my mouse, I do like it nevertheless. Problem is, again, not sure I fully understand it ... My banking sites, etc., (HTTPS?) are good to go - (correct?) - but what about other, "Trusted" sites, such as MG here? With No Script, MG (like many other websites) offers many sub-divisions of (or "separate") servers with scripts - the ones such as "google-analytics" (among some others), which I see on many websites would "seem" to be ok ("safe"?) to let through/run scripts (Whitelist), but the ones I don't recognize or see as much around the web/net, well, I usually just allow "Temporary" permissions (for everything actually - aside from HTTPS servers - "Temp" even for MG'S), but then have to go through it all over again upon my next visit to the site, and I do this due to concern at some sites that I am not going to be able to view something or other that I might wish to view - hence I end-up allowing the Temp Permission(s) for just about everything on the sites I visit (which are not porn sites or even sites that haven't gotten the "green check mark" of approval from McAfee Site Advisor).

Any help at all appreciated - thanks in advance,

    1. If you're new to adblock, the easiest way is to subscribe to a block list. It's free. Go to tools, add-ons, adblock, filters, add subscription, select one from drop-down, ok, ok.

    2. No Script doesn't have subscriptions so it's up to the user to manually block a questionable site. It's tiresome. I turn it on globally and block only a few sites or when I feel I'm entering a questionable site or when I'm bombarded by a ton of pop-ups. I'm not worried about exploits. Mozilla is very good at fixing vulnerabilities. I have real-time anti-malware. The only one time I had problems is a site kept popping up a window asking me to download this, and it would re-pop that up again if I tried to close the tab. I solved it by killing the process in memory & choosing "start a new session" when I ran Firefox again.

I keep everything blocked with noscript. When I come to MajorGeeks, I temporarily allow majorgeeks.com . If it works, I don't worry about allowing anything else.
Here I now have majorgeeks.com permananently allowed - that's it. None of the other things have been allowed and the site works fine.
The next time you come back, noscript remembers your setting so you do not have to select it again (if you made it permananent). it is a lot of trial and error but IMO, worth the effort.

Thanks. Now, you're saying that you do allow MG's "Permanently"? (confused by your first sentence and you saying "temporarily")?

Yes, my gut feeling was to allow this site permanently - but until I knew (understood) more, I wasn't willing to do that ... (it's not [wasn't] that I didn't "Trust" this site, I just wasn't certain that with so many links etc., to it/with it, that I might not be exposing myself to some other (ANY other) potential scripts/vulnerabilities/etc. - that's all ...).

    Thanks again -

I test a site by first setting it to temporarily, which I did when I first arrived here. (and do for any new site) After a few times going to a site and of seeing what happens with script turned on or left off, I may select to change from temp to permanent. MG has moved to permanent. Sorry for the confusion. ;)
On the other hand, here I have kept these to off: google-analytics, exponential, googlesyndication and quantserve.
