advisories, warnings, and watches

    we have all three here, and i am apparently not the only one that is unclear on the difference. they just put on a little public advisory advertisement to tell people that for eg. a hurricane warning would mean that a hurrican is expected in 72hrs, and a hurricane watch would mean that it was expected within 24hrs.......so a watch is worse than a warning....who have thought . they didnt say what an advisory is . lol

    That's exactly backward of what it is here. An advisory is that there's the possibility of bad weather. A watch means the conditions are in place for bad weather. A warning means bad weather has been spotted either on radar or in person.

    yes, and what makes it funnier is that a lot of the time its the sea. and it doesnt matter what they say, watch, advisory whatever....high surf is high surf. the weather too, can change on a dime. so the advisory seys there is a storm, and through muffled ears to drown out the sheet rain, you say 'no sh*t'. just struck me funny today.
