That's a HijackThis line you are giving. BJ asked you to fix this in message #10. This is normally a restriction put into your registry by programs like Spybot or SpywareBlaster etc for protection purposes. But it usually is more of a pain then a help, since it makes it more difficult to fix problems when they occur.

Are you saying that the registry key that Ad-Aware freezes on is:

    HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

If that line is still in your HJT log, fix it. If that does not work, check the options you are using in Spybot or other tools and remove this restriction.

No ur right thats the one from the hijackthis file, my bad.
THis is as far as adware goes.
    Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer...

Its alright i'll just get in contact with adware and see what they say.

    THANKS for your guy's help
    I really appreciate it.

Try this from the command line, Start > Run and type "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\Ad-Aware.exe" +procnuke ( include the " marks and as this is the default location of Ad_Aware, if yours is different adjust )

I know you have version SE 1.06 but which build is it exactly? build can be found in lower right corner, should be Build 1.06r1

Tried that still freezes, i installed the older version again, and did a scan with that and it was fine. It didnt freeze, found no infections. Then tried it again with the new version SE 1.06 (Build 1.06r1) and still froze.

But it does not freeze if you disable deep registry scan as I said in message # 48. Right?

Also repeat similar to what Halo gave you but use:

    C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\Ad-Aware.exe" +procnuke +cskip

When i disable Deep scan registry it does not freeze, scans all the way through, no infections were found.

    That doesnt work.

    This doesnt work either.

Do you still have "Search for negligible risk entries" unchecked?

If not, keep it unchecked and then run the command

    "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\Ad-Aware.exe" +procnuke +cskip

If you already had that unchecked, I'm leaning towards a possible problem with your registry that causes Ad-Aware to hang.

You could try downloading, installing and running Erunt to do a registry backup first and then an Optimize (using the builtin NTREGOPT feature).

    Afterwards try Ad-Aware again.

    Download RegSupreme Pro 1.1

Install this program, after you install you will be prompted to "defrag" you registry for best performance. You can go ahead and click YES, should take but a minute or so.

After this completes at the top, click the REGISTRY CLEANER tab. Then click on "Aggressive" and let it scan. Afterwards you will see the total of invalid entries found. Once its complete, select ALL entries and select FIX. The program will then fix the ones that are fixable, the ones that are not will be removed. Type in a backup filename and save to an easy location just in case.

After you fix the invalid entries, reboot and scan again and see if it still freezes.

Get spybot, run it. Let it fix what it can, then run S&D. I've run into cases when one will "clear the way" for the other. Running in safe mode seems to work best when things are really fouled up. Each of the spyware removal programs gets slighly different stuff. Of course they overlap on many capabilities too.

Read the entire thread, user stated everything came up clean. This could be and most likely is a registry issue. Not technically malware related, but is possible.

To add to what BJ stated. You want the user to run Spybot and then run it again. S&D is part of Spybot's full name. Spybot S&D. You should read the sticky threads. Spybot is part of the procedures used and it is run in safe mode with many other tools. This was all already done in message # 2 or 3 of this thread.

    You're welcome!

As I suspected since message # 50, your registry had problems.

Sorry, meant to say "spybot then ad-aware" but judging from the later items, it seems there was a registry problem.
