HELP....I opened an im from a reliable source, and it wasn't the source; just a "virus" attached to his buddy list. Now I have pop-ups non-stop. Spybot revealed "Command Service" and "Hyperlinker" but could not remove either. Ad-Aware found and "removed" adware.linkmaker and now shows no "critical objects". However, computer continues to run slow and sluggish and the pop-ups do not stop. What can I do to get rid of these...I cannot find hyperlinker.exe in the regedit (as per my online research) nor can I find a key for LM anywhere....Any suggestion on how to remove and/or what software to use would be appreciated....Dreading having to reformat hard drive and start from scratch if I can avoid it....Thanks...Scott

    Command Service

It now appears that the only thing remaining is "command service". Spybot can remove 2 of the three keys, but cannot remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CONTROLSET001\SERVICES\CMDSERVICE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET]\SERVICES\CMDSERVICE

    Any suggestions??? Thanks, Scott

Yes follow the standard cleaning procedures that are given in the sticky threads. I'll repeat them here.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

    Re: Command Service

Please do not post multiple threads. You now have started three threads for this problem. Remain in one thread. I'm going to merge this one with another were you have been given directions on what you should be doing.
